Heart of Texas Bass Anglers
Killeen, Texas
Heart
of Texas Bass Anglers, may be the oldest Bass Club in
Killeen. Founded in 1974 by active duty military members stationed here
at Fort Hood it began by being named The Heart of Texas Bassmasters and
has been active every year since its inception. In 1988 the club name
was
changed to its present day name of Heart of Texas Bass Anglers to avoid
conflict with the National Organization, Bassmasters.
Currently
41
members strong, our members consists of both active duty and retired
military along with civilians from every walk of life. We are always
looking for new members. It doesn't matter if you have a boat or not
as non-boating members are always welcome. Inexperienced? We understand
that people discover the fun of bass fishing at many ages and are happy
to teach you what we know. We prefer to have members over 18 years old
but do make exceptions for father/son members. Women and couples are
always welcome. All we ask is that you have a strong desire to fish,
will adhere to strong sportsman's ethics and do have some fishing gear!
Heart
of Texas Bass Anglers differs from other area fishing clubs in that we
add variety to our tournament schedule by rotating local lakes with
places like Toledo Bend, Sam Rayburn, Choke Canyon, Lake Fork, O.H.
Ivie, Fayette County, and
Lake Amistad to name just a few. Normally we
fish one tournament away from the local lakes (more than 70 miles away
from Killeen) and the following tournament on a local lake (within 70
miles of Killeen). In this way we can ensure that our members are the
most well rounded and knowledgeable anglers in the area.

Many of the
Major Tournament Trails throughout the state of Texas, such as BASS,
FLW, BFL, Stren, Tuff-Man & ABA are fished by our members. Major
tournaments take place on the different lakes located throughout Texas
and our varied Club Tournament Schedule provides our members with an
excellent working knowledge of many of the lakes in Texas for those who
like the competition of the larger tournaments.
